Keepsake and Finishing The Race

"Keepsakes"

True friends are like treasured books,

worn from wear, but always there in their nook.

Some pages are earmarked, some words

underlined,

like your shared history you can always find.

Books have a shelf life, people say—

Only a few you love enough

to never give away.

“Finishing The Race”

If life were compared to a race course, it wouldn't be a straight one.
You could pass mile marker one and two,
and realize you missed seeing some things along the way
and go back to redo them.
Or you could accidently veer off course—
And it might take you awhile to notice,
so you'd have to spend more energy to get back on track
Or you could get tired and decide to take a break on the sidelines...
Whatever the case, it wouldn't be a straight shot—
For there's no set time for the race
and when it comes to reaching the finish line,
you just get there when you get there.
